<p>Cation content in snow is greatly dependent on sampling site. Roadside samples are likely to exhibit a high sodium content caused by the use of road salt. This application shows the analysis of a snow sample from a roadside. Separation is performed on a microbore Metrosep C 6 - 250/2.0 column with direct conductivity detection. The 250 mm column was selected due to the large difference in concentrations between sodium and ammonia. This condition enables a baseline separation of the two cations.</p>
