A peristaltic pump—also known as a tubing pump—is built from three essential components: a drive, a pump head, and tubing. Together, they form a complete system designed to transfer an exceptionally wide range of fluids, from aggressive chemicals to sensitive biological samples.
When configuring your system, you could start by choosing the tubing.
- Flow rate / output – the tubing’s internal diameter has a direct impact on flow.
- Chemical resistance – since the tubing is continuously compressed and flexed, it’s essential to select a material that resists degradation by the pumped fluid, especially in continuous use.
- Viscosity, solids, back pressure, suction lift – for these demanding conditions, high-performance tubing is the best choice.

This kit contains small samples of the most commonly used Masterflex tubing formulations and is available to you free of charge.
