The OMNIS Conductivity Detector Unit functions as a conductivity detector in the OMNIS IC System.
The conductivity detector continuously measures the conductivity of the pumped liquid. The sample is separated into its ionic components in the separation column. Afterwards, the separated ions generate a change in the measurement signal in the conductivity detector compared to the baseline. This manifests itself in the form of evaluable peaks in the chromatogram.
The conductivity change depends on the type and concentration of the electrolyte and on the sample volume applied. Low baseline noise enables low limits of detection and therefore more precise measurements. The conductivity detector exhibits high thermal stability and thus guarantees reproducible measuring conditions.
