Skills required

  • Self-motivated professional with a proactive attitude, strong ownership, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong expertise in the design, development, and validation of electronic circuits, modules, and assemblies for complex instrumentation products, preferably analytical or measurement systems.
  • Proven experience leading hardware development activities across the complete product lifecycle, from requirements definition and architecture design through development, verification, validation, and release to serial production.
  • In-depth knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including circuit simulation, schematic design, PCB development support, debugging, prototyping, and comprehensive product-level testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform root-cause analysis, troubleshoot complex hardware issues, and ensure compliance with quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with enthusiasm for working in cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams, including Firmware, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design Transfer, Manufacturing, and Production teams.
  • Experience supporting design transfer activities, manufacturing readiness, and production ramp-up to ensure smooth transition from development to volume production.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established product development processes and engineering best practices while maintaining comprehensive and accurate technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analyze system and customer requirements in detail, translating them into clear functional specifications, hardware architectures, and design requirements.
  • Design, develop, and validate electronic circuits and subsystems using industry-standard design, simulation, and verification tools.
  • Ensure hardware designs comply with applicable regulatory, safety, reliability, and quality standards throughout development and product release.
  • Evaluate existing designs and proactively identify opportunities for performance enhancement, cost optimization, reliability improvements, and technology innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with global R&D teams, particularly in Switzerland, and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders including Firmware, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels across local and global teams to drive alignment and successful project execution.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages open communication, knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Contribute to departmental strategy by supporting the definition of goals, developing implementation plans, and driving continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify technical and professional development needs within the team and provide mentoring, coaching, and guidance to enhance team capabilities.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert, providing consultation and support to engineers in addressing complex design challenges, troubleshooting issues, and making critical technical decisions.
  • Support product transfer to manufacturing by working closely with operations teams to ensure smooth production ramp-up, sustainment, and continuous improvement of released products.
  • Support on Product Care activities and other ongoing projects as applicable.
  • Support in Department Tasks as and when required within the team.

Secondary Skill

  • Hands-on experience with Zuken CR5000/CR8000 design environments, including Design Gateway and Design Force, for schematic capture, PCB design, and design verification.
  • Practical knowledge of motor control electronics, including the design, implementation, validation, and troubleshooting of motor driver circuits such as H-bridge, PWM-based, and stepper motor driver solutions, with a strong understanding of their application-specific requirements.
  • Solid understanding of electronic components, embedded hardware systems, signal integrity, power electronics, and circuit design principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to independently investigate complex technical challenges while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience in EMC/EMI compliance and type testing, including test planning, execution, result interpretation, and implementation of corrective actions to achieve regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working in cross-functional Agile/Scrum development teams, with a good understanding of Agile methodologies, sprint planning, backlog management, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Familiarity with IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) tools, including DOORS, ALM, Rational Team Concert (RTC), and Test Quality Manager (TQM) for requirements management, change control, traceability, and project collaboration.
  • Working knowledge of product development and release processes in a regulated or quality-driven engineering environment.

We are Looking for You with

Qualification:

  • B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. in Electronics, E&TC, Instrumentation Engineering or Equivalent.
  • At least 12 years of professional experience in Electronics R&D

 

Technical:

  • Experience in High-Speed Digital Circuit Design
  • Expertise in Analog and Mixed-Signal Hardware Design
  • EMC/EMI compliance, and hardware debugging/validation using laboratory instruments.
