This Process Application Note describes the analysis of amine and carbon dioxide in a caustic absorbing solution that results from the carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) process in carbon capture plants. The amine-based scrubbing technology is very energy-intensive and generates huge operating costs. Therefore, optimizing the amine activity and usage by online analysis is a critical step in reducing overall costs and measuring the efficiency of the carbon dioxide capture at the same time.
