Talent & Organizational Development Specialist

The Talent & Organizational Development Specialist (T&ODS) is an integral part of the Human Resources Team and supports the organization’s growth by partnering with managers throughout the organization to engage and develop high performing teams and employees. This includes bringing the strategic plan to life through coaching, reinforcing accountability, continuous developmental activities and more.

This role has a direct impact on our employee’s engagement and retention through:

  • a thorough understanding and proven application of motivational theories, coaching styles, performance management theories
  • the ability to communicate and partner effective with all levels of employees
  • the knowledge of and wisdom to balance US Federal, State and local legal requirements and business requirements into recommendations and performance plan development.

A successful candidate will be skilled at managing projects independently, be detail-oriented, organized and self-driven. You should be a strong verbal and written communicator with the ability to educate and influence scientific, analytical personality types.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Organizational Development

As part of the Human Resources Team, you will collaborate with managers and support the Director in establishing optimal organizational structure, goals, programs and policies. You will provide consultative services including policy interpretation, dispute resolution and coaching to enhance employee job and overall company performance.

Incorporating the guidance of the Director and Executive Team, you will drive the performance appraisal and feedback programs and coach Managers on our performance review process as well as what constitutes appropriate feedback, language and documentation.

Ongoing assessment of job leveling, descriptions, competencies, job profiles will also require your input and recommendations.

Employee Relations

In partnership with the Director, you will provide risk mitigation and protect the interests of the company and its employees in accordance with internal policies and appropriate governmental laws and regulations.

You will be expected to maintain a thorough knowledge of employment laws on the national, state & local level (including Canada) and make recommendations for updated or new policies and procedures based on developments in this arena.

Compensation & Compliance

You will be responsible for annual projects and preparing reports, including (but not limited to) compensation survey data, Affirmative Action Plan reporting, compensation assessments, pay equity reviews, internal equity comparisons, salary grades, job classifications and more.

Minimum Background and Education Requirements:

EDUCATION: You should hold a BS Degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development/Psychology, or similar areas required. A Master’s degree in OD, business or related field is strongly preferred. Current certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP or other) will put you ahead of the pack.

EXPERIENCE: We want you to have a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a Talent/OD role, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and spin many plates.
