The Star-Ion A300™ - 100/4.6 IC anion column's separation properties are based on the use of styrene-divinylbenzene resin. The separation between the "water dip" and chloride is not as sharp as with acrylate-based and vinyl alcohol-based columns. The Star-Ion A300™ - 100/4.6 exhibits lower separating efficiency in the fluoride range. This column nevertheless impresses with its extremely short analysis times.

The system peak and high carbonate concentrations interfere with the integration of the chloride peak. It is therefore recommended that the "MCS" (Metrohm CO2 Suppressor) be used.
