Cr(VI) is determined by polarography at the SMDE in acetate solution containing ethylene diamine to mask interfering copper ions.

Only Cr(VI) is electrochemically active. It is for that reason that all chromium compounds must be present before the analysis as CR(VI), which is guaranteed by UV radiation with a pH > 4.
