Vis-NIR Spectroscopic Analysis of Wood Pulps for Multiparameter Prediction

The ability to rapidly monitor physical changes during the pulping process helps to eliminate lost time and product with real-time quality control. An alternative to conventional lab methods, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) generates results in seconds and leads to a meaningful reduction in time, product variance, and chemical waste. This Application Note shows that NIRS can simultaneously determine six pulp parameters (kappa number, applied density, freeness (CSF), breaking strength (SCT), buckling strength (RCT), and tensile strength) in wood pulp.
