Strategic Accounts Manager

We are the North American division of world-renown Metrohm AG (Herisau, Switzerland), an industry leader in laboratory instruments and accessories for analytical testing/research. We are looking for a Strategic Accounts Manager to join our field-based Sales Team. The Strategic Accounts Manager is a nationally focused position.  The location is flexible, however the east coast or Midwest is preferred. As a Strategic Accounts Manager you will:

  • Works proactively with Sales teams, management and CEO to drive the sales of all products of target accounts in all locations. Target accounts list will be defined and supplied by MUSA executive team on an annual basis.
  • Travels an estimated 50% of the time throughout assigned territory to call on established and prospective customers to create demand for all of our companies’ products.  This activity includes both personal visits and contact by phone.
  • Communicates with sales team and management on opportunities and risks for sales growth. Comfortable and skilled to approach and sell to targeted accounts on an executive level.
  • Is a champion for all of the company’s products and services and works to ensure customer satisfaction in the target accounts at all locations.
  • Responsible to promote and negotiate national accounts purchase/preferred vendor agreements as well as support level agreements. Is involved in supporting and implementing worldwide key account agreements in North America and acts as a go to partner for the worldwide key account manager from HQ.
  • Keeps sales teams apprised of sales performance in target accounts and goals. In charge to lead project to implement and regularly update required strategic account metric and functionality in the CRM/Service and ERP systems.
  • Maintains and updates company data in the company’s database.
  • Develops, publishes and continues to refine Strategic Account strategy to help guide the supporting departments of Marketing, Sales, and Applications.  Implements Marketing programs and initiatives at Strategic accounts in conjunction with Product Management.  Provides regular feedback on marketing programs and information on new opportunities.
  • Coordinates and supervises all critical activities at Strategic Accounts in conjunction with Sales Management.  This includes multi-location service contracts, critical demonstrations, supervision of client server software installations, and new application development/implementation.
  • Manages pricing contracts for all Strategic Accounts insuring that Customer Support and Sales are fully aware and implementing the agreed upon terms.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (or related discipline) from an accredited college or university and two years of related sales experience in analytical instruments and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates a team player, leadership role to drive, inspire and motivate other team members to take actions to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Extraordinary organizational skills to balance customer visits and requests, CRM documentation and reporting to the Director, Strategic Accounts.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to read and interpret business/professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to handle difficult customers.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel and Word.
  • A valid driver's license and stable credit history are required!
