77° North: A week at the Polish Polar Station

The Polish Polar Station lies at the Hornsund fjord on Spitzbergen, the largest island of the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Among other things, investigations into the long-distance transport of air pollutants into the Arctic are conducted here. To accomplish this, the researchers at the Polar Station link ion chromatography measurements in precipitates to meteorological data.
