Customer application: Determination of cyanide in process waters of the steel industry

Carsid SA is one of the largest steel-producing companies in Belgium. Raw steel is produced in a blast furnace at its Marcinelle site, around 60 km south of Brussels. Small quantities of cyanides arise in the blast furnace; a portion of these exits it with the blast furnace gas and dissolves in the wash water during gas scrubbing. Because cyanide is subject to a statutory limit value, its concentration in the wash water is subject to continuous monitoring. This is handled by a ProcessLab system that provides fully automatic determination of the cyanide concentration directly at the process.
