The speciation of trivalent – Cr(III) – and hexavalent chromium – Cr(VI) or chromate – is very important because of the toxicity of the latter substance. The two species can be separated as Cr(III)-EDTA-complex and chromate on the Metrosep Carb 2 - 100/2.0 Microbore column. The Microbore column generates low eluent rates and the eluent can be injected directly into the ICP/MS without the installation of a flow splitter.
