NOVA 2.0 - Flexible, Powerful and Intuitive Software for Electrochemistry

NOVA 2.0 is the new electrochemistry software from Metrohm Autolab. This application is used to control all compatible Autolab instruments and accessories.

Designed by electrochemists for electrochemists and integrating over two decades of user experience and the latest .NET software technology, NOVA brings more power and more flexibility to your Autolab potentiostat/galvanostat.

NOVA 2.0 combines the power and flexibility of the previous versions with a simple and modern user interface. The design of NOVA is based on simple and effective graphical representations of common tasks that can be carried out by the instrument. This intuitive and simple interface provides an easy to learn user experience. Both new and experienced users will immediately feel comfortable using the software.

A universal presentation

NOVA 2.0 uses a simple and effective graphical presentation that is consistently used throughout the application. Each command in a procedure is represented by a simple tile which immediatly provides a visual overview of the procedure steps. Less is more and NOVA 2.0 applies this as much as possible, displaying only the most relevant information in all parts of the application.

The new visual style greatly facilitates the learning process of NOVA 2.0, making it a welcoming environment for both experienced users and newcomers alike.

Panels can be collapsed to provide more room or can be undocked to be displayed on a second screen, if applicable.

Powerful 2D and 3D plotting options

NOVA 2.0 can create and display as many plots as necessary and the measured data is shown in the dedicated Plots panel. All the plots defined in the procedure are shown in this panel, providing a direct overview of the whole experiment. Each plot can of course be inpected in more details.

A wide range of data analysis and data handling tools

NOVA 2.0 is supplied a wide range of data handling and data analysis tools that can be used to process measured data points and apply analysis methods, thus reducing the need for third-party applications. The data analysis and handling commands provided in NOVA 2.0 can be used at the end of each measurement or can be included directly in the procedure in order to execute these commands automatically while the measurement is running.

Of course, it is possible to export the measured data to third-party application for further processing and analysis. This can be done in a few mouse clicks and can also be done automatically if the necessary commands are added to the procedure.

A powerful procedure scheduler

The Scheduler is a new feature of NOVA 2.0. The sceduler can be used to define a measurement schedule for each available instrument. Several procedures can be added to each instrument schedule and optional synchronization points can be added to the schedule as well. This simplifies long measurements drastically since each instrument will execute the specified procedures sequentially.

Procedure can be added to a new or existing schedule using the simple drag and drop method. Each procedure is represented by a white box in the schedule, the size of which is scaled in proportion to other procedures in order to visually indicate the relative duration.

The Virtual instrument can also be involved in the schedule. This device can be used to run procedures that contain commands that do not require a connected instrument.
