The storage capacity performance of devices like batteries and supercapacitors can be improved by enhancing the ion-conductivity (𝜎𝐷𝐶) of the electrolyte and the electrolyte-soaked separators. For lithium ion batteries, for example, the contribution of the Li+-ions to the overall ion-conductivity is a critical parameter defined by the Li+-ion transference number. Since most battery and supercapacitor applications occur over a wide temperature range, the temperature dependency of the conductivity and the overall transference number of the system is of great interest.
