Ion chromatography – yesterday, today and tomorrow

The introduction of modern ion chromatography (IC) in the mid-1970s marks the start of a new era in ion determination. With the IC methods available today, practically all inorganic and organic anions and cations – including biomolecules with multiple charges – can be determined in a relatively short time in every imaginable sample matrix, usually with high selectivity and sensitivity.

This article shows how ion chromatography has developed in recent years, first of all from the point of view of research, and then from the point of view of an ion chromatograph manufacturer.
