Solar power is one of the sustainable solutions to meet the ever-increasing energy demands of this nation. India stands at a solar installed capacity of nearly 2.9 GW as reported on November 2014. Past year in June 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Obama pledged their agreement to support India’s ambitious goal to deploy 175 GW of renewable energy, including 100 GW of solar, by 2022. In order to accomplish that target, Indian Government has launched a variety of national level initiatives in past five years. The researchers in the area of solar cell development have been never more active in publishing high quality solutions. In this newsletter, we will highlight some of the notable contributions made for the advancement of solar cell research in India.
