Global Sulphur Limit for Shipping Industry
As part of the global drive to reduce pollution worldwide, the International Maritime Organisation has set a global limit for sulphur in fuel oil used on board ships of 0.50% m/m (mass by mass) by January 2020 which represents a significant reduction from the current 3.50% m/m.

Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC) could play an important role in the analysis of fuel oil for sulphur content to ensure compliance with emissions targets.

The Metrohm CIC system including sample preparation is completely automated and superior to offline methods with a higher throughput, precision and accuracy and control through a single software.
