Product Manager - Process Analytics

The Process Analytics Product Manager (PA-PM) is responsible for the managing all aspects of the Process Analytics (PA) business. From technical specifications to troubleshooting and from marketing to profitability, this person serves as the business leader for the entire line of Metrohm Wet Chemical process analyzers. These products include application specific wet chemical analyzers and all sample conditioning products that prepare samples for analysis by these analyzers. 

Product Managers are the highest product leadership positions available at Metrohm USA. The PA-PM will continuously evaluate the position of Metrohm Process Analytics products in the market and design and execute marketing campaigns to drive lead generation and profitable revenue growth. 

Product Leadership 

Leveraging a background in chemistry, chemical engineering and/or process analytics, the PA-PM will serve as the technical lead for assigned products. Process Analyzers are a mixture of analytical instruments interfaced to a working production process. It is vital that the PA-PM have experience with the industrial process and process control, chemical engineering and analytical chemistry. 

The PA-PM will support the customer product lifecycle from marketing, sales qualification and configuration, assembly and instillation and retirement. This includes working together with the rest of the organization to addressing the customer’s application needs, developing customizations to match the customer’s expectations, properly documenting the analyzer for the customer, testing the analyzer’s performance to specification prior to installation and reviewing the commissioning process to ensure product alignment and customer satisfaction.

Financial and General Business Oversight 

The PA-PM will have financial responsibility of the entire PA business. This includes maintaining profitable business growth as well as managing the product infrastructure such as pricing, allowable discounts, gross margin, and internal CRM and ERP systems. The PA-PM will manage the entire portfolio of PA instruments throughout their lifecycle. From product launch to end-of-service, the PA-PM will be responsible for the product offering. This includes, pricing, warranty management, service plans, replacement parts, consumables and all product lifecycle communications. 

The PA-PM will also participate in global product management tasks that include voice of customer acquisition for new product development. Reporting sales and product activity to our corporate global product leadership and participate with other product leaders from around the world in product management meetings and discussions. 

Marketing Leadership 

The Product Manager will work with the VP, Marketing to assemble the marketing plan for all Process Analytics products. This will include scoping and developing the marketing message(s), the collateral, tradeshow plan, lead generation activities and sales training material necessary to achieve the revenue and lead generation goals for the assigned products. This includes preparing both sales- and customer-facing materials for product launch and advanced technology support of our applications and technical support team. The PA-PM will define, product and continuously improve sales tools and strategies. 

Travel expected to be in range of 15-25%, domestic and international.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements 

EDUCATION: Minimum BS degree in chemical engineering, process management, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, pharmaceutical sciences or related field. 

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 years of scientific instrument process control industry experience with a BS degree or 3 years of experience with a higher-level degree. Non-degreed applicants with 10 years or more of experience will be considered.
