Propene is one of the most important base materials in the petrochemical industry. Two thirds of total propene is used in the manufacture of polypropylene. Propene is also used for the production of additional important intermediate products such as propylene oxide, acrylonitrile, cumene, butyraldehyde and acrylic acid.
