With the 792 Basic IC Metrohm is offering
you two different things:
In the first place we are providing the education
sector with an extraordinarily favorably-priced
ion chromatograph that will allow schools,
universities, occupational and advanced training
facilities as well as company-internal training
laboratories to purchase one or more ion chromatographs
and equip their training rooms with the necessary
workplaces.
In the second place Metrohm has published
a practical textbook that presents the basics
of ion chromatography in an easily understandable
way as well as covering the theory at both
a simple and at a more demanding level. It
also describes 22 experiments which open up
the whole world of ion chromatography to the
students.
With the 792 Basic IC the students are provided
with an instrument with which they can learn
the essential features of ion chromatography
in a very simple
way. As ion chromatography belongs to the HPLC family this means that the
basics of this analytical technique are also
covered. The software program allows
different hardware systems to be created and operated using different methods.
Individual methods can be created and stored for each experiment and each
application.
The 792 Basic IC is, of course, not just limited
to education but can also carry out standard
applications in the analytical laboratory.
Regardless of whether anions or cations are
to be analyzed, or whether organic acids need
to be determined - the 792 Basic IC provides
reproducible and accurate results within a
very short time. The detection limit is below
100 ppb (0.1 mg/kg).
In all Metrohm instruments, and this includes
the 792 Basic IC, the expression "cost
of ownership" is of great importance.
This covers the running costs associated with
the instrument. For the Basic IC these are
very low. It does not require an expensive
external supply of gas as the built-in double-piston
pump provides the necessary performance as
a matter of course. This means that the pump
is responsible for the low-pulsation baseline.
Even the injection valve works without nitrogen
or helium. This saves money. If operated properly,
the working life of the "MSM" Metrohm
Suppressor Module for chemical suppression
is practically unlimited. Carbonate/Bicarbonate
eluent, dilute sulfuric acid and water for
regenerating and rinsing the suppressor - all
the necessary solutions can be prepared at
a low cost. Even with high sample throughputs
the running costs can be kept low. That the
software is included with the instrument and
does not need to be purchased separately goes
without saying.
In the scope of devilery we offer our monograph "Practical
Ion Chromatography".
