The eluents used in ion chromatography have
a decisive influence on the quality of the results. Varying eluent
concentrations result in retention time displacements, which in
extreme circumstances could lead to confusion between the components
to be determined. Apart from the uncertainty of the results, the
search for the causes of such effects can be very time-consuming
and costly. In such cases MPak eluents are a reliable remedy.
MPak eluents are supplied in 5 liter plastic bags with a quick-release
sealing system. After production the eluents are checked by the
manufacturer and then certified in an external and independent
laboratory. The concentration tolerances are selected so that
the use of a new MPak eluent results in no major alterations in
the retention times or selectivities.
Thanks to the quick-release sealing system,
changing the eluent requires very little time and can be carried
out virtually without any interruption to the operation of the
IC system. For transport the MPak bag is sealed into an additional
bag. Both materials are impermeable to gases and water vapor,
so that the sealed MPak eluents have a shelf life of at least
1 year.
MPak eluents are used by placing them in the
MPak cabinet and connecting them to the IC pump with the appropriate
tubing. All Metrohm ion chromatographs can be operated with MPak
eluents. Retrofitting is possible at any time.
