Thiourea in acid copper bath

AN-V-139 Thiourea in acid copper bath

The concentration of thiourea in a chloride-containing acid Cu bath is determined by polarography. The interfering chloride is precipitated with HgNO3 as Hg2Cl2. The amount of added HgNO3 has to be adapted to the chloride concentration, since an excess of HgNO3 also interferes with the determination.
