Especially in samples coming from plating solutions,
a total removal of cations would lead to very acidic
samples. To avoid disturbances in the chromatogram the
heavy metals should be replaced, e.g. by lithium. Again
the same setup known from the Metrohm Inline Neutralization
is used. However, the lithium form of the cation exchanger
is used instead of the H+ form. For the regeneration
of the sample preparation unit a stronger, complex-forming
acid solution is used.
